During this busy time of the year, I encourage you to take good care of yourselves while keeping up with your responsibilities. The Trooper Tally Props to our top point earners on the Trooper Tally, our monthly recognition system, for the month of September: Los Gatos, Branham, and Prospect Key Clubs. Continue to keep up the good work everyone! I’m looking forward to seeing some other clubs rise up in the ranks. Fall Rally North: This year’s Fall Rally North will take place on October 22nd at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, California. Fall Rally is an event in which Key Club members from all over Northern California come together to celebrate service and funds raised for the Pediatric Trauma Program. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend a day with friends at an amusement park while showing off our mighty Supertrooper spirit! Although registration is not quite open here’s some information you need to know: WHEN: October 22nd, all-day WHERE: Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA DRESS CODE: Come decked out in D12W Key Club Spirit! Please wear a current or past Division 12 West tee shirt, which you should be able to order through your club president, and any other merchandise you have (red/blue/white glitter, red/blue/white garments, D12W spirit sticks, red/blue/white tutus, etc.) COSTS: Registration and entry into the park will be $36. Note that this is a discounted ticket price to get into Six Flags and ride attractions all day! TRANSPORTATION: You can transport yourself, or you can pay $43 to ride a y Club bus to the event. Let your club president know if you want a spot on the bus ASAP Spirit Prep #1: Our first spirit prep will take place on October 1st! We will be making ribbon leis and learning spirit cheers to prepare for FRN. This event is highly recommended if you plan on going to FRN! When: October 1st, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Where: John D. Morgan Park (540 W Rincon Ave, Campbell, CA 95008) Cost: $5.00 to cover the cost of materials for ribbon leis Fall Rally Spirit Team: Congratulations to Kacey Yoe from Los Gatos, Cameron Chesters from Los Gatos, and Hillary Lee from Wilcox on making the Division Spirit Team! They will lead our division at Fall Rally North and help us bring home that spirit stick!! Updates from CNH: SPOTLIGHT ON SERVICE PROGRAM: To help the CNH District reach its goals of service, contribute to the Spotlight on Service Program! There are monthly initiatives for important causes along with wonderful ideas for what service projects and fundraisers you can hold to contribute to them. Thanks to those of you who contributed to the September Focus: The Pediatric Trauma Program. The October focus will be UNICEF! Contribute to the cause by distributing collection boxes to your club. Get MYC’d Up: Do you want to learn more about our preferred charities in the California-Nevada-Hawaii District? The Kiwanis Family and Foundations Committee has the perfect video series for you on the @cnh_keyclub instagram’s reels and the CNH Youtube Channel. Get MYC’d Up focuses on all five of our preferred charities and teaches you as members why you should care and how to contribute to them! SERVEtember: Did your club participate in SERVEtember during this past month? Were you able to fill out all of the bucket list items created by our District’s Service Projects Committee? If you did, please have your club president fill out the submission form tinyurl.com/servetember2022 by October 5, 2022. This deadline is fast approaching, so be sure to check out the submission guidelines ASAP! Upcoming Dues Season: Dues season is coming up. Here is what you need to know if you are a Key Club officer! Reference this DUES MANUAL as you plan. After establishing members, make sure they understand the purpose of dues. Then, work with your board members to collect them (ex. Venmo, mail, etc.) AT LEAST weeks before December 1st (earlier to meet the early-bird deadline), log into the Membership Update Center and properly submit your club’s dues.z Dates to note: October 1, 2022 - MUC opens November 1, 2022 - Early Bird Deadline December 1, 2022 - On-Time Deadline (If KCI does not receive dues by then, your club will be marked DELINQUENT!) February 1, 2022 - Recognition Deadline CNH Contests: Are you planning on applying for a CNH contest? Contest guidelines are out now on the cyberkey at cnhkeyclub.org. Apply for scholarships, DCON awards, and more and contact our Member Recognition Committee Chair Suyeon Hwang at mr.chair@cnhkeyclub.org with any questions or concerns. Please note that the newest guidelines for the Member Recognition Program are also available. If you are a club secretary, it is important that you go over this information. Region 9 and 17 Training Conference: We can’t wait to see you at this year’s Region Training Conference: Demigods of Service on October 8th and 9th at Camp Jones Gulch in La Honda, California. We hope that you have a mythical time attending presentations, participating in activities, and showing your Key Club spirit during fireside skits. The August Focus was Children’s Education. The September focus is the Pediatric Trauma Program! DCON 2023: SAVE THE DATE Prepare to sail with the CNH bees to DCON next year in Ontario, California! District Convention is an end-of-term event that celebrates a year of serving our homes, schools, and communities. See you there! REGISTER FOR KEY LEADER Key Leader is a Kiwanis Camp, held over one weekend in fall, to help all high schoolers (not just Key Clubbers!) establish leadership skills. There will be events like archery, hiking, and rock climbing, at two locations in California. The full cost, including lodging and meals, is $250. For more information, check out the graphics below, go to key-leader.org, or contact your LTG! SERVEtember: SERVEtember is the CNH district’s latest initiative for promoting Key Club members’ service and recognition! For the entire month of September, Key Clubbers are encouraged to complete tasks from the Bucket List. These include hosting interclub events with other Key Clubs or other branches of Kiwanis or submitting to the Spotlight on Service program for September. Collaborate with other Key Clubs in the area by hosting a joint trail or park cleanup in the area or help out at a food bank or community garden to check off some of these Bucket List items! By completing the Bucket List tasks, clubs may receive recognition at District Convention and the District Newsletter by having the president fill out the submission form tinyurl.com/servetember2022 by October 5, 2022. The MRF and TMRF are REACTIVE submissions. This means by June 5th, you’ll have turned in the reports for MAY. Articles and visuals should be reactive in that they contain information on PAST EVENTS, but they will be included in the newsletter for the NEXT MONTH. I hope even more members from our division can come next year to display the key club core value of inclusiveness. NEW OFFICERS: remember to ask your previous officers for help or training if you’re not sure what to do. RESOURCES: Submission Email Templates Guide to the MRF Managing Key Club and AP Testing: I understand that managing Key Club as well as AP tests, finals, and more can be extremely challenging. Thus, I’ve decided to postpone more comprehensive training and core calls until the end of the school year and the beginning of summer. If officers are unsure of what to do, however, please do not hesitate to reach out! I’m here to make this busy time of the year and transition to a new term as smooth as possible. Governor’s Visit: Are you interested in meeting our current and future Kiwanis Governor? Every year, we host a dinner and reception, and Kiwanians would love for you to attend! Kiwanis Special Games: After a two-year hiatus, the Kiwanis Special Games have returned, and they need as many key clubbers as possible to come out to show our support! The Kiwanis Special Games is a fun and inclusive annual event for special needs youth in our communities. There are accessible obstacle courses, frisbee throws, bean bag tosses, 100-yd dash events, and more. For the 2022 Special Games, volunteers will help set up the games, work with the athletes throughout the event, and guide them through each of the games. The event will take place on Friday, May 13th from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM at West Valley College. There will be around 700 athletes attending, so Kiwanis needs the help from Key Clubbers like YOU to make this event possible! If you’re interested, please contact your respective club president, as the event takes place during a school day and requires permission to attend from a school administrator.
