Greetings Supertroopers!
Welcome back to school everyone! I hope that your classes are going well, and I hope you take breaks as we move forward through this busy year. Remember to take care of yourselves and have fun during these exciting years of our lives! As usual, this is your Lieutenant Governor Jordan Chan with the monthly DIVISION UPDATE EMAIL for the month of August! Here’s a quick preview of what this bulletin contains. Content Preview:
Important Monthly Submissions: Just a reminder of the following submission deadlines for secretaries, treasurers, editors, and other officers that help fulfill these responsibilities!
Remember to CC our Member Recognition Chair Maddie Cox on every submission at [email protected], so we can give you points for your on-time and early bird submissions on The Trooper Tally. You should also CC your executive assistants and include me as a recipient on each submission. Your articles and visuals should be sent to [email protected]. Please make sure these get in on time in September, and be sure to contact me if you are having any issues with the submission or need an extension. You’ll also get extra points for early-bird submissions, which are two days prior to the on-time dates listed above. Congrats to our top-point earners!! Updates from CNH: SPOTLIGHT ON SERVICE PROGRAM: In encouragement to reach the CNH district goals of service, CNH will be introducing new service themes each month for the 2022-2023 term! Along with a service guide, this program can help your club get recognized DISTRICT-WIDE by fundraising, volunteering, etc. For more information (as well as SoSP’s timeline), check out the CNH Key Club Instagram. The August Focus was Children’s Education. The September focus is the Pediatric Trauma Program! DCON 2023: SAVE THE DATE Prepare to sail with the CNH bees to DCON next year in Ontario, California! District Convention is an end-of-term event that celebrates a year of serving our homes, schools, and communities. See you there! REGISTER FOR KEY LEADER Key Leader is a Kiwanis Camp, held over one weekend in fall, to help all high schoolers (not just Key Clubbers!) establish leadership skills. There will be events like archery, hiking, and rock climbing, at two locations in California. The full cost, including lodging and meals, is $250. For more information, check out the graphics below, go to key-leader.org, or contact your LTG! SERVEtember: SERVEtember is the CNH district’s latest initiative for promoting Key Club members’ service and recognition! For the entire month of September, Key Clubbers are encouraged to complete tasks from the Bucket List. These include hosting interclub events with other Key Clubs or other branches of Kiwanis or submitting to the Spotlight on Service program for September. Collaborate with other Key Clubs in the area by hosting a joint trail or park cleanup in the area or help out at a food bank or community garden to check off some of these Bucket List items! By completing the Bucket List tasks, clubs may receive recognition at District Convention and the District Newsletter by having the president fill out the submission form tinyurl.com/servetember2022 by October 5, 2022. Upcoming Dues Season: Dues season is coming up. Here is what you need to know if you are a Key Club officer! Reference this DUES MANUAL as you plan. After establishing members, make sure they understand the purpose of dues. Then, work with your board members to collect them (ex. Venmo, mail, etc.) AT LEAST weeks before December 1st (earlier to meet the early-bird deadline), log into the Membership Update Center and properly submit your club’s dues. Dates to note: October 1, 2022 - MUC opens November 1, 2022 - Early Bird Deadline December 1, 2022 - On-Time Deadline (If KCI does not receive dues by then, your club will be marked DELINQUENT!) February 1, 2022 - Recognition Deadline Updates from Region 17: Region Training Conference: Demigods of Service Save the date for our Percy Jackson themed Region Training Conference, Demigods of Service! If you are a club officer, prepare to talk about RTC during your first general meetings and at club rush. In the July monthly update form, I shared the Save the Date graphic posted on the Region 17 instagram. This month, I’ve attached an infographic on what RTC is to share with your clubs. I’m looking forward to spending a weekend at camp with you Supertroopers! August DCM Recap: Thank you to everyone who came to the joint Division 12s August DCM at Cataldi Park!
